First visit · Crows Nest

Your first visit, start to finish.

Forty-five minutes, one practitioner, and a straight answer before you leave. Here is exactly what happens, what to wear, what to bring and what it costs, so nothing about your first appointment is a surprise.

How it runs

1.

Initial consultation (45 minutes, $160)

We start with the story: what happened, what makes it worse, what you have already tried, what you are trying to get back to. Then a physical assessment. Movement screening, orthopaedic and neurological testing where relevant, strength and load testing, and a look at how the surrounding joints are behaving. If something in the history suggests imaging or a medical opinion is needed first, we say so and refer. Treatment on day one is usual but not guaranteed, because an assessment that says 'not yet' is worth more than a rushed adjustment.

2.

Report of findings

Before you leave you get a plain answer: what we think is driving the problem, what the assessment showed, how confident we are, and roughly how long it should take. If investigations were ordered, we book a Return of Findings appointment to go through the results before starting a care plan.

3.

Follow-up phone call

A few days after your first appointment we call you. Treatment responses tell us a lot, and a two-minute conversation often changes the plan for the better. There is no charge for this.

4.

Treatment, rehab and review

Ongoing appointments are 30 minutes. Hands-on work, adjustments, soft tissue and dry needling where indicated, paired with loading and exercise you actually do. We set review points so progress is measured against the things you care about, whether that is sleeping through the night or getting back under a barbell.

Before you come in

Wear

Shorts or leggings and a t-shirt. You will be moving, squatting and walking during the assessment.

Bring

Private health card, any scans or specialist letters, medication list, and a GP EPC referral if you have one.

Allow

Fifty minutes door to door. Complete the online intake form beforehand so the full 45 minutes goes on assessment.

Getting here

Chiro Central is at 455 Pacific Hwy, Crows Nest NSW 2065 (inside PT Central), on the eastern side of the Pacific Highway. From Crows Nest Metro station it is about a one minute walk. From St Leonards station, cross to the eastern side of the highway and walk south for roughly five minutes. Metered street parking runs along the surrounding streets, and Willoughby Council's Hume Street car park is a short walk if you would rather not chase a highway spot.

First visit questions

Do I need a referral for my first chiropractic visit?

No. Chiropractors are primary contact practitioners in Australia, so you can book directly. Bring a GP referral only if you are claiming under a Medicare Enhanced Primary Care plan.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothes you can move in. Shorts or leggings and a t-shirt are ideal, because the assessment involves squatting, bending and walking. You will not be asked to change into a gown.

What should I bring?

Your private health card for on-the-spot HICAPS rebates, any recent scans or specialist letters, a list of medications, and your GP's EPC referral if you have one.

Will I get adjusted on the first visit?

Usually yes, once the assessment is clear. If anything in your history or examination suggests we need imaging or a medical opinion first, we hold off and explain why. Adjustments are never done without your consent, and there are plenty of low-force options if you would rather not be adjusted at all.

How long is the first appointment?

45 minutes. Arrive a couple of minutes early to fill in your intake form, or complete it online through the booking confirmation email to use the full time on assessment.

Is it going to hurt?

Assessment can reproduce your pain briefly, because that is how we find the source. Treatment should not be painful. Some people feel mild soreness for a day afterwards, similar to after a gym session, and we will tell you if that is likely.

Ready when you are.

Assessment, explanation and treatment in the one appointment. Book online in under a minute.
