Walking directions from St Leonards station

Chiro Central is at 455 Pacific Hwy, Crows Nest NSW 2065, inside PT Central. St Leonards station sits on the T1 North Shore Line and is one of the busiest interchanges on the Lower North Shore, so most St Leonards patients walk in rather than drive.

  • Exit St Leonards station on the eastern side of the Pacific Highway, the Crows Nest side, not the Royal North Shore Hospital side.
  • Turn south, away from Artarmon, and follow the highway footpath towards Crows Nest.
  • Continue past the St Leonards office towers for roughly 400 to 500 metres, about five minutes at a normal pace.
  • Look for PT Central signage at 455 Pacific Hwy. Chiro Central is inside.
  • If you would rather not walk the highway, Crows Nest Metro is one stop away and puts you about a minute from the door.

Parking if you drive from the St Leonards precinct

Street parking in St Leonards itself is tight because of the hospital and the commercial towers, which is one reason patients drive the short distance south instead. Around the clinic there are metered bays on the Pacific Highway and ticketed one and two hour zones on the streets between the highway and Willoughby Road, around Hume Street, Alexander Street and Falcon Street. Restrictions differ street to street, so read the plate rather than copying the car in front.

For a 45 minute initial appointment, the two hour zones are the safe choice. For evening appointments after 6pm on Monday, Wednesday or Thursday, the side streets are usually straightforward.

Built around the St Leonards precinct

St Leonards is two things at once: a major medical precinct anchored by Royal North Shore Hospital, and a dense commercial precinct of office towers along the highway. Both produce a particular kind of patient. Hospital staff who are on their feet or twisting and lifting through a shift, and desk workers who barely move for nine hours then train hard three times a week.

The load pattern matters more than the postcode. A nurse's lower back complaint is a standing and lifting tolerance problem. A consultant's neck complaint is usually a sustained-position and total-training-volume problem. They are treated with the same hands and the same testing, but the homework is not remotely the same.

Because the clinic sits inside PT Central, rehab gets tested on the gym floor with real weight. If you train near work between meetings or before a shift, we can set up the session so treatment and training happen in the same trip rather than on separate evenings you never find time for.

Questions from St Leonards patients

How far is the clinic from St Leonards station?

About a five minute walk. Leave St Leonards station on the eastern side of the Pacific Highway, turn south towards Crows Nest, and continue past the office towers to 455 Pacific Hwy. It is a flat, footpath-the-whole-way walk with one set of highway lights to wait at.

I work at Royal North Shore. Can I be seen around shift changeover?

That is exactly why we run 7:30am starts on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and late finishes at 7:30pm on Monday and Thursday. Wednesday runs 2pm to 7:30pm, which suits an afternoon shift finish.

Where can I park near the clinic if I drive from St Leonards?

Metered bays sit along the Pacific Highway, and the side streets running off it towards Willoughby Road are mostly one and two hour ticketed zones during business hours. Signage varies street by street, so check the plate. If you are coming from the hospital precinct in the evening, parking is much easier after 6pm.

Do you treat hospital and office workers differently to athletes?

The assessment is the same. The plan is not. A theatre nurse standing for ten hours, a consultant sitting through back-to-back clinics and a lifter chasing a squat number all need different loading advice, even when the presenting neck or back pain looks similar.

What does it cost and can I claim it?

Initial appointment $160 for 45 minutes, standard appointment $120 for 30 minutes. Private health extras are processed on the spot through HICAPS so you pay the gap. Medicare EPC referrals are accepted. We do not accept WorkCover, DVA or third-party claims.
